A Unique, Cost-Effective Method for Filming Underwater Models
I have developed a highly efficient and cost-effective method for filming models underwater in pool/tank environments. Combining modern high-quality cameras with underwater and topside lighting, I am able to achieve perfectly lit, 4K (120fps) and 8K (60fps) slow motion video at a fraction of the cost of traditional productions. This approach produces clean, cinematic footage without the need for large lighting rigs or complex underwater setups.
It has been used extensively for Waterbabies, where I film babies underwater in a safe, controlled, and visually consistent way. To my knowledge, this method is unique in the UK—and possibly worldwide—and offers productions a reliable, repeatable, and budget-friendly solution for underwater model work.
